Summary
Produced by the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, this is an interview with former Eveleigh Workshop worker Jack Mulcahy. Once the centre of rail assembly and maintenance in New South Wales, the Eveleigh Railway Workshops now form part of the Australian Technology Park.
When he was 12 years old Jack Mulcahy used to watch the trains shunting back and forth at Eveleigh, where he got to know the engine drivers and the different engine classes. When he was old enough he got a job at the Carriage Works across the road from Eveleigh, but he was sacked for taking a sickie to watch trains at Central. He later joined the tramways and became a conductor but remained a train lover for the rest of his life.
