Summary

Presented by Grant Courtney, Secretary of the Newcastle and Northern Branch of the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union (AMIEU), this promotional video briefly outlines the union’s history and presents the benefits of union membership.  Pointing out that employers have employer associations, the presenter articulates the importance of unions for job security and guaranteeing working conditions by negotiating enterprise bargaining agreements. Some of the gains include decent wages, annual leave, sick leave, long service leave, maternity leave, superannuation, workers compensation, as well as legal representation in the workplace.  Other benefits include emergency hospital transport and cost price tools of the trade.
