All In A Day’s Work

Australian Workers Film Guide

In the aftermath of World War Two, this government film highlights the importance of the Commonwealth Handling Equipment Pool in retrieving wartime industrial equipment from Pacific military bases so that it can be put to work modernising Australia’s industrial handling capacity in a range of industries.

As seen through high quality footage, this includes the movement of freight on the Australia’s waterfront, housing construction, timber production, open pit coal mining, bridge construction, the laying of water pipelines and even the removal of old rubber tyres. The footage features extensive footage of forklift vehicles and an assortment of working cranes that the film states will revolutionise the outmoded labour intensive practices of the past.
