Rocking For Rights

Australian Workers Film Guide

A component of the 2006 Your Rights At Work campaign against the Howard Government’s Work Choices legislation, this short documentary covers the Rocking For Rights concert at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The concert was supported by a collection of Australian rock bands, some of which are featured performing at the event, interspersed with musician interviews about the threat of Work Choices.

Featured artists include Hoodoo Gurus, Something For Kate, The Herd, Hunters & Collectors, as well as The Screaming Jets. Shadow Environment Minister and former lead singer of Midnight Oil, Peter Garrett, discusses the threat of Work Choices and his pride in these Australian musicians standing up for workers’ rights.
