From the archives – the ACTU’s 60th birthday

At its 1987 Congress, the ACTU celebrated its 60th birthday.

Alongside union leaders such as ACTU Secretary Bill Kelty, Congress heard from Prime Minister Bob Hawke – himself formerly an ACTU President.

These photos of the event were found in the Noel Butlin Archive at the Australian National University on a proof sheet.

The ACTU’s records are held at the archive and are a rich source for anyone interested in Australia’s union history.
