About this course:

Political engagement is an essential campaign tactic. Knowing who to talk to and how to get a meeting is just the start. Helping a politician understand how their interests can be served by getting on board with your agenda is key.

Politics is about relationships and power. Just like organising. Knowing who you need to persuade is critical to being successful.

This course will cover everything from the basics like navigating Parliament House, preparing your pitch to researching your audience and choosing your delegation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own real-life campaigns to work on. There will also be plenty of “open space” for questions and discussion.

The course is led by ACTU Political Director Shawn Lambert who has served as a Federal Labor staffer for over a decade including in the office of former Prime Minister Julia Gillard and knows what it’s like from the “inside”.
